Day 5 • Move in Trials

Scripture

Acts 1:8 (NIV)

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Reflection

In Acts 1:8, Jesus gave a promise to his disciples: the promise of power through the Holy Spirit. This promise came at a time when the early church was about to begin a journey filled with trials and tribulations. They were facing a world that was often hostile to their message, and their mission to spread the gospel was filled with challenges.

Despite the persecution, the early Christians did not falter. Their strength came from a divine source, not their own. They were empowered by the Holy Spirit to endure hardships and to spread the message of Christ far and wide. Their perseverance in the face of adversity serves as a powerful example for us today.

In our own lives, we often face trials that seem overwhelming. Whether it’s personal struggles, financial woes, professional setbacks, or relational difficulties, these challenges can feel like unclimbable mountains. But just as the early church was empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are also promised strength through him.

When we are in the midst of our trials, it's easy to feel isolated or overwhelmed. However, Acts 1:8 reminds us that we are not alone. The same Spirit that empowered the early Christians is available to us. This power enables us to face our difficulties with courage, resilience, and faith.

Consider the areas of your life where you are experiencing trials. Are you relying on your own strength to get through, or are you seeking the power of the Holy Spirit? Reflect on how you can invite the Holy Spirit into all of your challenges, with a renewed sense of trust and dependence on God's provision.

Prayer

Dear God, we come before you today acknowledging the trials and challenges we face in our lives. We ask for your strength and resilience to help us endure. Grant us the courage to remain faithful and focused on your mission, even when the path is difficult. Fill us with the power of the Holy Spirit, just as you promised in Acts 1:8. Help us to be witnesses of your grace and truth, regardless of the obstacles we encounter. Thank you for your unwavering presence and support.

In Jesus's name I pray,
Amen.

Church Family Prayer

Heavenly Father, we want you to move. We are hungry and desperate for more of you. Pour your Spirit out over us, our families, our church, and our community.

In Jesus's name I pray,
Amen.
