I was called to serve following Andy’s yearly invitation for volunteers in the spring of 2022. I think one of the main reasons I initiated my next step was because after listening and “consuming” the messages and our church's amazing children’s environments for my daughter, I felt compelled (even a little guilty?) to give back. I am so glad I did!
The process was super easy once I signed up. I decided that UpStreet was the place for me, as my daughter was in Transit at the time, and I figured I could serve while she was upstairs with her peers. The UpStreet staff and fellow volunteers became quick friends and confidants. If you choose to come along with us in UpStreet, be ready for your heart to absolutely explode with love watching our own teens and young adults step up alongside to serve. These amazing young people give me hope that our next generations will be amazing Christian leaders and are not ashamed to wear their faith proudly.
When my daughter started high school, she also decided to serve in UpStreet and became a part of the tech “family.” Her bonds with this amazing group of teens and adults have provided her with another outlet for connection and faith. It is a blessing to experience this with her, and when I am traveling and unavailable to make it on Sundays, she makes sure she still goes as she claims it is “one of the best parts of her week.” I would agree!
You are Made For More, too. Volunteering in our church is one way you can discover the more you are made for. Ready to find out what you were made for?
